Elle Varner Performs New Music at B.B. King Blues Club

Last night Elle Varner performed at B.B. King Blues Club for a special Valentine’s Day evening hosted by Radio 103.9.

The artist, who became famous in 2012 for her Billboard topping album Perfectly Imperfect performed fan favorites as well as two new songs.

It seems Varner had a lot to celebrate this week. The singer and songwriter celebrated her birthday two days earlier and a recent Grammy win for her collaboration with Chance The Rapper who won Best Mixtape for Coloring Book. Varner sings vocals with D.R.A.M on his track “Special”. During songs Varner spoke about her time away from music, describing it as complicated, and declaring an end to her break.

“I didn’t want to face every day that I couldn’t do music. I didn’t want to keep pushing and stay in it but I did and I’m glad.”

Although the evening was meant for love it was less about crooning love songs and more about Varner showing up and showing out. Varner hasn’t missed a beat since her last album–varying from high notes and soulful jazz.

Opening performances were by Atlanta-based singer Algebra, and Jordan Bratton who rocketed the audience into high energy, with a special guest appearance by Stacey Barthe. After returning for an encore performance Varner brought her young brother Elijah on the stage who proved the Varners are a talented family full of vocal range.

We have a feeling fans will be getting a new album “Refill” from Varner.
