OWN Releases Top 100 “SuperSoul” Leaders

Highlighting the journey of Black women as they create spaces…
Earlier today, The Oprah Winfrey Network released the first ever #SuperSoul100, a collective list of awakened leaders that are using their voices and talents to elevate humanity and encourage others to live life more intentionally.
Inspired by OWN’s award-winning series SuperSoul Sunday, the list honors leaders in five separate categories: Creatives, Entrepreneurs, Givers, Igniters, and Teachers.
“This is what makes me full…being able to associate my self, this brand, this network with people like you. You are connecting to the word with values, spiritual energy and that matters.” Oprah said in a video on the Super Soul TV website.
Featured on the list is director, Ava DuVernay who has been having a stellar year. Recently the director made history as the first African-American woman to direct a live-action feature film with a budget of over $100 million (A Wrinkle in Time). Last month, she hosted a screening for her upcoming drama Queen Sugar at ESSENCE Fest and this fall her documentary “The 13th” will open up the New York Film Festival.
Others accompanying DuVernay on the #SuperSoul100 list include singers India Arie and Common, empowerment expert Iyanla Vanzant, and activists Jesse Williams and Amandla Stenberg.
