Our Winners of the 2016 Tony Awards

Highlighting the journey of Black women as they create spaces…
Last night’s Tony Awards had some winners and some more winners who left the event empty-handed.
Unsurprisingly, Hamilton won the evening with 11 of it’s 16-nominated awards including “Best Featured Actress in a Musical” to Renee Elise Goldsberry and “Best Score” to Lin-Manuel Miranda who gave a powerful speech honoring the victims in the Orlando tragedy that occurred earlier that day.
Danai Guirira’s 6-nominated play Eclipsed only received the award for “Best Costume Design” while The Color Purple took home two, including “Best Revival” and “Best Leading Actress in A Musical” which went to Cynthia Erivo who performed alongside cast mates Heather Headley, Danielle Brooks and the cast of The Color Purple.
