On The Rise: Chloe x Halle

Highlighting the journey of Black women as they create spaces…
Remember that time you recorded yourself singing a Beyonce song, posted it online and became a viral sensation? Remember when Queen Bey deemed you worthy, reposted your vid, then offered you a recording contract?
No?
Well then you must not be Chloe and Halle Bailey. The sister duo got their start in 2013, after their YouTube cover of “Pretty Hurts” became a viral hit–gaining the attention of Beyonce herself. Now the pair are signed to Parkwood Entertainment, Beyonce’s brand new record label, and have performed for Michelle Obama, graced the cover of Elle magazine and just released their first single “Drop” along with a video.
“‘DROP’ is very special to us because it was one of the first songs we fully wrote and produced ourselves,” they told FADER. “It gave us the courage to trust our instincts. To see how it was made from our living room, to turning into something much bigger, is super exciting! We’re so happy that we got to do our first video in such a huge way, and we have Beyoncé to thank for that. We love her so much.”
Everything about this video is bewitching.
