11 Year-Old Brokers Whole Foods Distribution Deal

Highlighting the journey of Black women as they create spaces…
Last year, 11 year-old Makaila Ulmer, founder of “BeeSweet Lemonade”, appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank and walked away with a $60K investment from FUBU founder, Daymond John.
Now, after inking a deal with Whole Foods, Ulmer’s honey-sweetened, flaxseed lemonade will be available in 55 stores throughout Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.
Ulmer’s career began shortly after receiving two bee stings and her great-grandmother’s recipe book. After learning more about bees and their possible extinction she created her lemonade business using honey as a sweetener–a healthier option that would help save bees. To further her mission, Ulmer holds workshops on how to save honeybees and contributes a portion of her profits to organizations that work to preserve and protect them.
